The Paintings of El Dorado

Moonlight and Shadows

In Navajo country with its canyons of rock walls, two women prepare an evening meal as a male stands waiting at the right. A fire by a canvas- topped wagon is the hearth for this domestic scene. Several horses are secured to the conestoga wagon for the night. Moonlight provides light for the evening repast.

The painting was originally owned by Senator Barry Goldwater, Phoenix, AZ and was later sold with Altermann Galleries Auction for $57,950.

A limited edition print was published in 1982.
From a 1957 painting titled: “Moonlight and Shadows ”
Oil on canvas, 28 x 38 inches
