Olaf Wieghorst
My Favorite Olaf Wieghorst Painting of Previous Weeks

 Lazy

A cowboy dressed in a blue shirt, wearing leather chaps, sits lazily on his Buckskin cowpony. The pair are profiled left in front of a pole fence and a small wooden building. They fill the canvas space. The cowpony is resting his near back leg in a common relaxed posture. Distant mountains can be seen through the pole fence. The painting has a peaceful calming quality.

From a 1940s painting titled: "Lazy"
Oil on canvas, 16 x 18 inches

Olaf Wieghorst painted around 1600 oil paintings, 3-5000 watercolors, and who knows how many drawing and sketches during his life time. I love them all. Each painting tells a story to me. I have hundreds of personal favorites and will be sharing a new one each week. If you have any comments on a painting or have a special favorite you would like me to post, please email me.
