About the Cover: by Ethel A.
(Ma) Hopkins
Editor of Hoofs and Horns Magazine
Olaf Wieghorst needs no introduction to Hoofs and Horns readers.
His fine pictures have decorated our cover pages from time to
time during the past several years. Besides the excellence of
his pictures, they are also appropriate to the time. Mr. Wieghorst
dedicates this picture as follows:
THE SPIRIT OF THE ROUGHRIDERS
To the men of the west;
to the real Americans
From the plains, the hills or the rodeo areana,
Who by the thousands, have answered the call of Uncle Sam;
The men whose ancestors rode with Sam Huston;
Or fought at Gettsyburg;
With Teddy in Cuba;
Or Pershing in France,
This is respectfully dedicated.
